How much does a small business website cost?
A one-page site starts at $1,499 inc GST, a business site of up to five pages at $2,499 inc GST and a ten-page site with SEO set up at $3,999 inc GST. Six to nine pages is the Business package plus $150 to $250 inc GST per extra page. Features such as online booking, a shop or copywriting add to that. The quote builder shows the range each one adds. Joel confirms a fixed price by phone before any work starts.
How long does a website take to build?
It depends mostly on how quickly content arrives. A one-page site is usually a couple of weeks from the first call. A five-page site is typically three to five weeks. Larger sites with copywriting and photography take longer. The timeline is agreed on the first call.
Do I own my website and domain?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name. The site and its content are yours. You can take a full copy of the site at any time, whether or not you keep hosting with us.
Do you write the words?
If you tick copywriting in the quote builder, yes. We write each page from a phone call about your business and send it to you to read before it goes on the site. If you already have words, we use those and tidy them.
Can I update the site myself?
Yes. Sites are built so that changing text, swapping a photo or adding a news post is something you can do from a login. The handover call covers it. Anything bigger, ring and we do it, billed at $100 an hour inc GST or covered by the edits included on a Growth hosting plan.
Do you work with businesses outside Adelaide?
Yes. Sites and Servers is based in Adelaide and works with businesses anywhere in Australia. Outside Adelaide the process runs over the phone, email and a preview address only you can see. See website design Australia-wide.
Hosting
Where is my website hosted?
On Google Cloud in the Sydney data centre. Your site and its data stay in Australia and it loads quickly for Australian visitors.
How are backups handled?
A backup is taken every day and kept for 30 days. On the 1st of every month a complete copy of every site we host is taken off the server and kept separately by us. On Business and Growth plans we also take a backup on demand before making any change.
Does every plan include staging and phone support?
No. Starter is email support, next business day, with no staging site. Business and Growth include a staging site, a backup before every change and phone support the same business day. The comparison table lists every difference.
Is there a lock-in contract for hosting?
No. Monthly plans roll month to month. Yearly plans are paid for the year in return for two months free. Either way you can leave with a full copy of your site.
Can you move my existing site to your hosting?
Yes. We copy the site to our server, test it on a temporary address, then switch the domain over. Your current site stays up until the new copy is confirmed working. The move is included on Business and Growth plans and quoted at $100 an hour inc GST on Starter. See website migration.
What about email?
We do not host email. We set your domain up with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, which are built for it. See domains and email.
Money
Do prices include GST?
Yes. Every price on the site is in Australian dollars and includes GST.
How do I pay for a website build?
A deposit to book the build, the balance when the site goes live. Both figures are on the quote you approve. Hosting is billed monthly or yearly from the day the site goes live.
What if I need something that is not in a package?
Say so on the first call. Extra work is quoted at $100 an hour inc GST and agreed before it starts. If the project is outside what we do, we will tell you and suggest where to look.
