What a redirect map looks like
Before anything is built, every address on the old site is listed against where it will go on the new one. This is the part that protects your Google history. An example for a five-page rebuild:

Signs a site is due
It is hard to use on a phone
Text too small, buttons too close, a menu that needs two hands. Visitors on a phone give up quickly.
Nobody can update it
The person who built it has gone, the login is lost or the page builder is three versions behind and breaks when touched.
The details are wrong
Old prices, old hours, a service you stopped offering, a staff member who left last year.
It is slow or shows a security warning
No SSL, overseas hosting, twenty plugins doing the work of two. A warning in the address bar costs you the visit.

Redesign questions
Will I lose my Google ranking?
Redirects are how we protect it. Every old address that matters is redirected to its new equivalent, so Google follows the move. Rankings can shift for a few weeks after any big change, then settle. We do not promise positions; we do make sure nothing is thrown away.
I do not have the login to my current site. Is that a problem?
Usually not. Content can be copied from the public pages. What we do need is access to the domain, so the address can be pointed at the new site. If that is lost too, we help you recover it with the registrar.
Can I keep my current hosting?
WordPress and static sites we build go on our hosting so we can back them up, update them and fix them when you ring. Shopify shops stay on Shopify. If you want to keep another host, we can hand over the files, but the care side then sits with that host.
