Check your website in a few minutes.
Type the address. We run Google's speed test on phone and computer, then check the things that decide whether customers and search engines can use the site. Real scores, plain words and what to fix. Free. No sign-up.
Or email hello@sitesandservers.com.au and we'll run it by hand.
What the check looks at
Google's scoresPerformance, SEO, accessibility and best practices out of 100, from Google PageSpeed Insights testing the page on a phone and on a computer the moment you press the button. Plus the numbers behind a slow-feeling page: how long the main content takes to show, how much the page jumps and how heavy the images are. When Google has data from real visitors, you see that too.
SecurityWhether the site loads on https with a valid certificate, whether old http links move people there and whether the server sends the headers that stop other sites loading yours inside theirs.
What Google readsThe page title and description that make up your listing, one clear main heading, structured data, a robots.txt and an XML sitemap.
Phones and sharingWhether the page fits a phone screen, whether buttons are big enough to tap, whether images have descriptions and what a link to your site looks like when someone shares it.
About the check
Is the website check really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no card. Ask for the report by email and it goes to you, with a copy to us so we can answer questions about it. You won't end up on a mailing list.
Where do the scores come from?
The four scores, the loading figures and the image weight come straight from Google PageSpeed Insights, run on a phone and on a computer from Google's servers when you press the button. The other checks are made by our server reading your home page, its headers, its robots.txt, its sitemap and its link preview image. Nothing in the report is estimated.
Why does my speed score change between runs?
Google's test loads the page fresh each time, so server load, ads and third-party scripts move the score a few points either way. Look at the band a score sits in (90 and up is good, 50 to 89 needs work, under 50 is poor) rather than the exact number.
What does the check not cover?
It checks the home page only. It doesn't look at your other pages, where you rank, your directory listings or whether the words on the page persuade anyone. Those need a person looking at the site, which is what an SEO review is for.
Can I share the report?
Yes. Every report has its own link that works for 30 days. It shows the results only, not who ran the check. Search engines are told not to list it.
Can I check a competitor's site?
Yes. The check reads only what any visitor or search engine can see. Each site is checked fresh once every 24 hours, so running it again the same day shows the saved report.
Can you fix what it finds?
Usually. Small fixes such as titles, descriptions, a redirect or a sitemap are quoted at $100 an hour inc GST. A site that fails the phone and speed checks is often cheaper to rebuild than to patch. Our packages start at $1,490 inc GST. Press "Fix this for me" on any item in your report and the site and the item come with your message.
A red report can mean starting fresh.
Patching may cost more than it's worth. Our five-page sites start at $1,490 inc GST and are built to pass every check on this page.
